Government House
Basement
- There are several sections to the basement of the residence because
of the various additions since the house was built in 1883.
- The basement is a warren of small rooms built to accommodate the servants
who used to run the house. It also contained the kitchen until the facilities
on the main floor were added in 1946. Now the basement is used mostly
for storage and laundry rooms.
