Twelve People to Receive
Order of Manitoba

 

Twelve men and women will be invested in the Order of Manitoba this year, Lt.-Gov. John Harvard, chancellor of the order, announced today.

“In April, I was pleased to announce the names of our three Olympians who will join the Order of Manitoba in 2006,” said Harvard. “Now, on Manitoba Day, I am delighted to announce the complete list of worthy citizens who will be invested into the Order of Manitoba this July. Each, in his or her own unique way, has made an outstanding contribution to our province.”

The province’s highest honour was established to honour Manitobans who have achieved excellence in any field resulting in outstanding benefits to the social, cultural or economic well-being of the province and its residents.

Those to be invested this year are:

An independent advisory council evaluates nominations and recommends candidates to the lieutenant governor who invests those who are recommended.

This year’s investiture will take place at a ceremony to be held July 13 at the Legislative Building.

Members receive the insignia of the order and may use the initials O.M. after their names for life.
