2005 Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba Classroom Teacher Award
Winnipeg - His Honour, John Harvard, P.C., O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, today announced that
nominations may be submitted for the 2005 Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba School Classroom Teacher Award.
This award is open to classroom teachers in the kindergarten to grade 8 category, and to classroom teachers
in the grade 9 to grade 12 category.
There will be two school classroom teacher awards presented. One will be for teachers in the kindergarten
to grade 8 category, the other for teachers in the grade 9 - 12 category.
The award is intended to promote an awareness of teaching excellence in Manitoba's schools. As well as
recognizing Manitoba's school classroom teachers, the award gives parents, colleagues and members of the public
the opportunity to show their appreciation of teaching excellence.
The Award Selection Committee for 2005, chaired by Mr. Brian Garagan of Winnipeg, consists of Tanis Pshebniski
of the Manitoba Association of School Superintendents; Maura Lebans of the Royal Bank; Annette Lyss of
the Manitoba Association of Parent Councils; and Brenda Toews of FRIESEN YEARBOOKS. The Royal Bank, FRIESENS
CORPORATION , and Canada Post are co-sponsors of the award.
Applications for nominating schoolteachers for these awards are
available through principals of schools, by contacting the selection
committee at lgmcta@friesens.com, or on the Lieutenant Governor’s web
site at www.lg.gov.mb.ca. Deadline for receipt of nominations is
April 30, 2005. Nominations may be submitted to the mailing address
shown on the application form, or by e-mail.
