LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR TO HOLD
NEW YEAR’S LEVEES

 

All Manitobans are invited to join Lt. Gov. John Harvard and his wife, Lenore Berscheid in a special afternoon of festivities and entertainment at the annual Lieutenant Governor's New Year’s Levee to usher in the new year Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Blue Room of the Legislative Building.

The Lieutenant Governor encourages families to attend this traditional reception that dates back to the early days of the Red River settlement.

Members of the Manitoba Living History Society will attend in heritage costume and entertainment will be provided by the Air Command Band, Parc la Salle/LaBarriére Crossings Choir, Scandia Young Folk Dancers, Joie de Vivre Singers, the Winnipeg Male Chorus and the Winnipeg Police Service Choir.

Donations of canned and dry food contributions in support of Winnipeg Harvest will be collected. A collection box will be located in the front lobby of the Legislative Building.

Before the Levee in the Legislative Building, members of the military, judiciary, clergy and consular corps will be received at Government House.

The Lieutenant Governor will also hold a New Year Levee at the Glenboro Kinsmen Community Hall, Fair Grounds, Glenboro on Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m.
